Project Overview
A healthcare provider wanted to reach patients in towns with no clinic nearby, without adding administrative load to the clinicians it already had. We built a telemedicine platform covering the whole visit, from booking and payment through a secure video consultation to prescription and follow up, with a scheduling view the clinic runs its day from. Patients book in under a minute and see a clinician the same day.
Challenges
Appointments were taken by phone, which tied up reception and still produced double bookings. Patients outside the main cities either travelled for hours or went without care. Clinical notes lived on paper, so a follow up consultation started from nothing, and there was no reliable way to collect payment before a session.
Our Solution
We built patient booking around real clinician availability, so the schedule cannot be double booked, with payment taken at the point of booking. The consultation runs over encrypted video in the browser, with no app to install, because that was the single biggest barrier for older patients. Clinicians write notes and issue prescriptions in the same screen they consult from, and those notes carry into the next appointment. The admin view gives the clinic a live picture of the day, and automated reminders go out before every session.
Results
Most bookings now happen online rather than by phone, average waiting time dropped sharply, and the provider reaches patients in towns it previously could not serve at all. Reception time that used to go on the phone goes into patient care.
Project Summary
The provider now runs a full clinic day through the platform and has extended its catchment well beyond the cities it started in. Clinicians use it without training, which was the measure that mattered most to the client.
